jaeckel just a man with his hair on fire.......

I've been on the Mark Streit bandwagon for awhile. Well, ever since they got rid of Campbell anyway. I still ask where he plays.

Last night was a game where everyone kind of needs to take a bite of the ol crap sammich.

Oduya and Hjalmarssson were -3 each while Keith and Seabs were +3. There really isn't a "top line" for Calgary but next time the Hawks face a good team, might want to see ol Marlboro 72 take some more shifts against them.

I saw Calgary get throttled by the Blue jackets a couple days ago. They're not that good a team. Can quickly alter right the ship tonight.

JJ - wouldn't you think that Kompon should have had some more insight on his former team when prepping the Hawks PP units? Like you mentioned, I know not having Hossa and Sharp hurts but wow, that was pathetic last night.

Also, Jimmy Hayes? I mean... his trial has to be over soon? They have to be "showcasing" him right?

Matt Martin... not a bad addition, but not a great one.. I'm not too sure about Boyles (another RW) and Streit (another D). Where would Boyles go and I don't think we need another $4 mill dman.

At this point, all the rumors that we've heard I think I'll be happy if this Iggy thing happens.

While it has been frustrating last few games, it is ironic that 2 of the 3 main issues of team are glaring in losses. Face offs and Power play. (I know the physical stuff too, though we out hit the Kings and matched that effort last night), but to the main point, and that is something has to change on the Power play and someone has to come in and win face offs.

Regarding faceoffs, watching lots of hockey it is apparent that the structure of the faceoff support is arcane and askew. That needs to be addressed to. That is coverage for win/loss etc... The hawks look lost too much scrambling around to find puck.

Crazy update. Thanks. At least they appear to have some kinda action going.

Was at the game yesterday. Sat behind Crawford for two periods. The defense was not good. All kinds of loose pucks not picked up, terrible passing and exits, just not sharp, half step slow all over and it showed on the score sheet. Either way shouldn't lose if you score 4 goals. I don't think you can blame this on any one specific player. I think you can probably absolve the 1st line though of blame.

Hate to beat a dead horse but Bolland looked awful. Dude could not complete a pass and it looks like he doesn't even try to win a draw. There were times when other guys just looked spaced out but he really stood out as bad. Jimmy Hayes is very tall.

Oh and ice looked super wet. Like someone was going to fall through into a lake underneath. There were a few times where guys turned and it was water and slush splashing not ice shavings flying.

The excuse that Seabrook and Keith struggle cuz they match other top lines all the time is no accurate this year. Often it is purely rotation and it seems most of the time, Q puts out Hammer and Oduya.

Frustrated with a few things last night, but time to make a few adjustments.

Kompon was terrible PP coach. Our PP was wicked awful under him. Thats why he got canned.

Great blog John. As usual. Still envy fans who have a blogger who can actually write and bring up some rumors.

But on to the game. Thats what the Kings do. If they dont already have a decent lead they are still wearing on the opposing team. Win or lose most teams we play arent doing so hot in the 3rd because we have been using our size and wearing them down all game.

Keystone cops in their own end is getting OLD. I'm tired of ranting on the invisible PP 3 years and counting.....it's gotten to the point that if they don't let up a shorty and get 2+ SOG I call it a success ....how sad!

Who upped the offer? Stan or Feaster?

Is this in addition to or in place of Isles talk?

Thanks JJ

JJ - I'm sure you've been asked it but I'll ask again (since the media won't ask Q directly)... why in the world is Sharp (when healthy of course) not playing 2C. Bolland looks awful in that role and his numbers prove it. Courtesy of Greg Stewart from 300 Level:

25 games this year he has 5 goals + 7 assists and is-4 as our #2 C spending most of his time between Sharp/Kane

16 games he has failed to register a point (64% of his games played)
- Has 1 goal in last 15 games
- 45% at faceoffs after tonight

Last time Sharp was the 2C they hoisted that silver chalice they hand out at the end of the NHL season. Trade or drop Bolland to third line and the rest could easily be sorted out. Just strange why at minimum they don't try Sharp there.
